Easy Hummus Recipe!

I decided to add a simple hummus tutorial to round out my week of middle eastern food posts. Hummus is delicious on a pita, but its also lovely as a dip! Try dipping baby carrots in it. Go on. I’ll wait. SEE? Wasn’t that amazing?! Veggies, crackers, chips… They all taste yummy with hummus.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained, with half of the liquid reserved
  • 3 tbsp tahini (can usually be found in the exotic foods section of your grocery store)
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • cumin for sprinkling
Throw the chickpeas, lemon juice, garlic, tahini, and salt into a blender and blend away, adding reserved liquid as necessary.
It should have a creamy consistency when it’s done…
Serve in a bowl with olive oil drizzled on top and a sprinkle of cumin. Maybe even throw in some rogue chickpeas for balance.
